Development of catalysts for the electrochemical oxygen reactions, namely, reduction reaction (ORR) and evolution (OER), is critical application various renewable energy technologies. The aim this work to prepare low-cost MnO2 electrocatalyst with high activity ORR OER via introduction surface vacancies (OVs). Herein, procedure thermal heating treatment under air or H2 has been demonstrated as an efficient way create OVs on α-MnO2 β-MnO2 nanorods, which are found be highly active both OER. existence can modulate intrinsic improve their kinetics. More importantly, H2-treated possesses much more thus exhibits better catalytic performances in comparison obtained by common annealing treatments air. Especially, nanorods show best results confirm that reducing atmosphere a facile process develop bifunctional Mn-based electrocatalysts reactions.
